About
us
The Rescue Geeks was founded in 2005 as an all-volunteer
group of Information Technology (I.T.) Professionals that sought to promote
a variety of environmental issues, most notably E-recycling. Today our
mission is to educate and empower people to create a healthier environment
through E-waste prevention and accessibility to recycling.
We operate E-waste recycling drop-off centers and stores
that also serve as onsite computer service and repair facilities. In conjunction
with our primary focus of E-waste recycling and computer service and repair,
we refurbish a vast majority of our collections for reentry into the market
and as such our stores offer a variety of used refurbished computer systems,
notebooks, LCD monitors and related hardware.
Our refurbished systems include used Touchscreen Point
of Sale systems that we are able to recycle back in the small business
community and 1/5th the cost of acquisition of similar new systems, thereby
promoting small business growth within our communities.
Our activities also extend into the community through
outreach programs in conjunction with local charities not only for our
E-waste recycling initiative, but also for the placement of our refurbished
PC systems as donations to local community groups and or school children
in distressed communities.
Training in partnership with community organizations,
colleges and universities in conjunction with our BOOTSTRAP program provides
Vocational I.T. Certification Training Classes at local colleges and community
centers.
