CompTIA A+ Curriculum

Program Overview
This A+ curriculum introduces basic hardware components and teaches about SCSCI devices and how to configure Bus Architecture. It delves into the concepts of memory modules, mainboards, and bus architecture and presents students with both theoretical and practical instruction on the fundamentals of major Operating Systems. The curriculum presents instruction on system interfaces and the underlying command-line functions and utilities to manage the major operating systems, and on procedures for diagnosing and troubleshooting common operating system problems. Finally, the curriculum presents students with both theoretical and practical instruction on basic network concepts and terminology, including the networking capabilities of Windows and network protocol configuration. This curriculum includes A+ PC Hardware Support Skills and A+ Operating System Support Skills. Full practical sessions will provide students with the necessary tools to work towards the A+ Certification.

On program completion, students will be able to:

  • Install and configure PC hardware and system components
  • Understand the basics of peripherals and local area networking
  • Support and troubleshoot PC hardware, software and peripherals
  • Have a good understanding of customer service techniques

This program has been approved under the CompTIA Authorized Quality Curriculum program.

Audience
This is an entry-level audience that want to pass the A+ Core Hardware (2005) Examination or that have a strong interest in PC hardware. Basic skills acquired in the early stages of on-the-job training as a service technician. Participants come from a broad spectrum of experience. Typical job roles may include IT professional or PC service technician.

Prerequisites
This is the essential foundation course for experienced PC support professionals wishing to achieve certification or for those people wishing to install, maintain and troubleshoot PC installations. This course will provide a foundation of the information required for students wishing to take and pass both A+ Certification Core Hardware and Operating System Technologies exams.
